Looking for a way to get involved? The Minot Area Chamber EDC is made up of committees and task forces. Members may participate in any of our active and dynamic groups that cover a wide range of interests, as follows:
Agribusiness Committee analyzes agriculture issues as they relate to the local economy, and promote agribusiness by sponsoring events that enhance rural/urban relationships.
Ambassadors Committee is the public relations arm of the Chamber EDC, is involved in member recruitment, new member visitations, ribbon cutting and ground-breaking ceremonies, Business After Hours and Showcase of Business. Limited to 70 members.
Community Leadership Institute Task Force organizes and conducts Community Leadership Institute - an eight week educational program structured to develop community awareness, volunteerism and leadership skills of emerging community leaders.
Energy Committee, Energy is a large part of industry in North Dakota and it continues to grow. This group is working to help keep it a vital asset in the way of jobs, infrastructure, promotion and the business community.
Governmental Affairs Committee conducts monthly meetings with federal, state and local officials as speakers, legislative forums, and legislators’ luncheons following elections. – Supports the ND State Fair funding request during the legislative session. – Monitors and disseminates information on the legislative activities of the US Chamber of Commerce. – Conducts activities that involve and enhance the overall relationship with elected officials. – Monitors and informs the business community of pertinent legislative issues. – Assists in informing members of Congress of the importance of education (K-12) impact aid. – Partners with area communities on key legislative issues. – Monitors federal and state policy changes for local impact.
Infrastructure Committee involves city/county/state highway departments and other public transportation carriers in Chamber EDC meetings concerning infrastructure issues. – Aggressively works to maintain and expand the level of air transportation serving the Minot area. – Provides input to the city regarding growth management plans and regulations. – Informs the public of the condition of, funding for, and importance of, quality infrastructure. – Supports and encourages the continuation of passenger rail service. – Monitors the housing availability in Minot and Minot Air Force Base. – Encourages full-time accessible and affordable public transportation, including transportation for the individuals with disabilities, student population, elderly and youth. – Encourages traffic flow throughout the city that is uninterrupted by railroad crossings. – Supports and encourages the development of a comprehensive plan that provides all infrastructure and infrastructure maintenance on a timely basis. – Encourages regular coordinated meetings between city and county planning officials.
Military Affairs Committee (MAC) strengthens and enhances the relationship between the business community and the military units stationed in the Minot area. The Military Affairs Committee conducts monthly meetings with the military, informing Minot business leaders of current military issues. This committee has several task forces designed to coordinate events to promote interaction between the business community and the military units in the Minot area. These events include Adopt an Airman, the Honorary Commander Program, Sportsmen’s Feed, Military Appreciation Events, and the Prairie Warrior Competition Fund Auction.
Right Start Committee updates and facilitates the Minot community overview presentation at MAFB orientation event, which occurs twice a month, and for any other special requests.
Start Up Minot is a regional coalition of support for entrepreneurs and businesses of all types and sizes in the Minot region to execute their business idea. It is two-pronged, with a cohort-based 10-week class called Start Up Minot Academy, powered by CO.STARTERS, and a monthly business showcase/networking event under the name Start Up Minot.
Task Force 21 directs and coordinates the effort of retention and expansion (additional missions) of Minot Air Force Base.
