Showcasing Minot's Global Connections: State and Federal Leaders Tour Intermodal Facility and AGT Foods

Minot’s role in connecting North Dakota products to markets around the world was on display during a recent visit from U.S. Congresswoman Julie Fedorchak and North Dakota Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring. Joined by leaders from AGT Foods, Rail Modal Group, and BNSF Railway, the tour highlighted two important pieces of Minot’s economic engine: AGT Foods and the Minot Intermodal Facility.

The Minot Intermodal Facility, owned by the Minot Area Chamber EDC and operated by Rail Modal Group, gives North Dakota exporters a reliable way to move agricultural commodities and manufactured products by rail to ports in Seattle and Tacoma for shipment around the world. An average of five to seven trains leave the facility each month, with each train contain-ing approximately 240 containers’ worth of North Dakota products.

At AGT Foods, visitors saw how North Dakota-grown crops are being transformed into higher-value products right here in Minot. Congress-woman Fedorchak and Commissioner Goehring toured AGT’s Extrusion Center, which opened in 2024 and produces innovative products such as gluten-free pasta. It’s a strong example of value-added agriculture creating new opportunities from products grown in and around the Minot area.

These visits showcased two examples of what makes Minot such a strong place to do business. MACEDC is grateful to Congresswoman Fedorchak, Commissioner Goehring, and our industry partners for the opportunity to share how Minot is helping move North Dakota products — and our economy — forward.
