“While City Hall may house many of our employees, in reality, it's the house of the people."
With those words by Mayor Tom Ross, "the people's house" has officially moved from near the Minot Auditorium to downtown Minot. The Minot Area Chamber EDC joined city employees, elected officials, and community members for a ribbon cutting on May 11.
"This project's completion, on time and on budget, proves the spirit of cooperation is alive and well in the city of Minot," said Mayor Ross. "Welcome to your new City Hall!"
The move was made possible by funds awarded to the City of Minot in 2016 as part of a National Disaster Resiliency Competition.
Mayor Ross highlighted the work of City Engineer Lance Meyer, who provided "steady guidance" to lead to the project's completion.
"Lance, we appreciate your dedication to the residents of Minot and your commitment to the completion of this project," Mayor Ross said.
MACEDC President | CEO Brekka Kramer said this is the latest in a series of major recent openings in Minot. "We had a ribbon cutting for Trinity Health on south hill," she said. "We were on north hill for the opening of the Magic City Discovery Center. And now in the heart of downtown Minot, we have an accessible building for the citizens of our community."
General hours for the new City Hall are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.
