Minot, N.D. – The Minot Area Chamber Economic Development Corporation (EDC) has hired Brekka Kramer as the organization’s next President/CEO. The position is currently held by L. John MacMartin who after over 30 years announced in December, his plans for retirement this year.
Kramer has over twenty years of experience leading community initiatives and moving public policy forward at a local, state and national level. She joined Odney in 2001, was promoted to general manager of Minot in 2006 and became a partner/owner in 2019 and currently is the agency’s Vice President and Minot General Manager.
Kramer has served on and chaired both the former Minot Area Chamber of Commerce and Minot Area Development Corporation boards, prior to the merger in 2021. She is on the Greater North Dakota Chamber Board of Directors, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) Minnesota and Dakotas Board of Directors, JDRF National Advocacy Team, Minot State Board of Regents, Minot Public School Foundation Board of Directors, is a member of the Sunrise Rotary Club of Minot and has served on the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis Ninth District Advisory Council and Minot Area Community Foundation Board of Directors. Prairie Business magazine named Brekka Kramer as one of the Top 40 under 40 in 2008 and Top 25 Women in Business in 2017. Kramer is a graduate of Minot State University.
“I could not think of a better person to lead our organization. Her commitment and passion for the Minot area and State of North Dakota runs deep. She’s been a part of economic development, business initiatives and is a recognized leader in supporting Minot Air Force Base,” said Randy Hauck, Minot Area Chamber EDC Board Chair.
Experience providing leadership in the effort to maintain and expand the mission at Minot Air Force Base is important to the Chamber EDC. Board Chair Hauck added, “We are blessed to have Minot Air Force Base (MAFB) here serving two legs of the Nuclear Triad. Brekka’s connections are an asset to our community as we do what we can to support the mission and our friends and neighbors at MAFB.”
Since 2015, Kramer has been representing Minot as an Air Force Global Strike Command’s Civic Leader. She serves on Governor Doug Burgum’s North Dakota Military Commission and has been a part of the commission since it stood up in 2018. Locally Kramer is involved with Task Force 21 and the Minot Air Force Base Honorary Commander’s program for over a decade.
Kramer is scheduled to start May 16th.
