Rachel Gruenberg – CHI St. Alexius Medical Plaza When faced with a relative’s health issues, Rachel’s nominator was impressed by her amazing service and care she showed for their loved one. Not only did she exceed expectations as a provider, but she excelled by offering additional assistance, called during off hours to check on her patient, made sure the changes in medical care were working, and continued to check in between appointments. She continuously expresses genuine concern and “has always been amazing, but this instance truly shows the compassion and care she gives to her patients and their caregivers.’

Jon Bovia – Dacotah Paper "Jon has been coming to our memory care home for a long time. While he was visiting the other day, he asked where two of my residents were. My little resident had passed about a month ago and he remembered what she said to him the day she moved in. He’s always so kind.” Great work caring about your customers, Jon!

Michael Zenz – Minot State University Student Each year during the Showcase of Business, students from Minot State University assist with getting the event ready to go and do an exceptional job helping the participating organizations with getting everything loaded inside and their booth set up. “This year we had a student who went above and beyond that. Michael Zenz not only helped us during the allotted university time- but also helped booths that needed help, stayed most of the day- enjoyed the event and then helped pack up. Never once did we ask him to go above and beyond. He said ‘I started this, I want to finish it.’ What an amazing young man!”

They noted that he has an “approachable demeanor and positive attitude” while exceeding expectations as he supports students and staff, exemplifying trust and respect and taking the time to listen and be a great resource. “Whether responding to difficult situations or offering proactive advice, Officer Williams operates without judgement and always demonstrates a willingness to assist in any way possible.” They cited his desire to build positive relationships within the school and compassion for students and staff, “discussing the seriousness of student actions and the potential risks they may face as they grow older. What sets him apart is his ability to balance these conversations with encouragement, often highlighting the positive changes and behaviors he has observed in students over time. Rich Jensen – Minot Public Schools Rich’s nominator was nervous about leaving their elementary class students when they went on medical leave, but Rich did a great job and made them feel comfortable about having to be gone. Rich already had glowing reviews at the school, and when they asked Rich to substitute for the class, they had no idea just how wonderful he would be. “At the end of each day, without being asked, Mr. Jensen emailed me a daily report explaining in lots of detail how every lesson and activity went, student behaviors, updates, reminders, and more.” Not only did Rich exceed expectations teaching the class, but he also included his own activities to have fun with the students. “The part about his report that made my heart the happiest: ‘I love your class. During the snack break, we worked on an adjective I could use when I wrote my report for you. They suggested Smarties, Knowledgeable, and Know-It-All, but we settled on GENIUSES!’ Mr. Jensen is positive, passionate, organized, adaptable, and has excellent communication and classroom management skills! I am beyond grateful he was with my class while I was gone and I can’t wait to hear how much fun they had with him!”

Floyd Hanson – Absolute Comfort When faced with a North Dakota winter, the last thing anyone wants to come home to is a blank thermostat. Floyd’s nominator was faced with a chilly situation on a Tuesday night when they weren’t able to fix the thermostat on their own. After a call to Absolute Comfort, they requested a Wednesday appointment, and the next day Floyd was on the case. He diagnosed the problem as a breaker wearing out and asked if his nominator had an electrician they used, which they didn’t. Floyd called Burlington Electric on their behalf, and they were able to help that day. “In a world of a ‘it’s not my job’ attitude, Floyd went above and beyond to make sure his customer was taken care of. He even said that once the electrician left, I could call him if I had any other concerns regarding my boiler. He really turned a stressful situation into a much easier one.”
