With recent back issues, Mark’s nominator was faced with a new challenge in their workout. However, they were absolutely blown away by Mark’s initiative to go out of his way to ask how customers are doing and offer assistance with their workouts in any way. Not only did Mark offer a great attitude and space to exercise, but he helped them with new stretches and made suggestions for improving their time at the Y and at home. “This is unheard of in today’s world.”
“Nik came and did some work for me and he went absolutely above and beyond. He was so considerate and more than willing to explain everything he was doing just because I was curious and interested in how it works! He was thorough and I never felt like he would rather be doing something else or that my particular issue was silly. Highly recommend this young man with a shining personality!”
Betty’s nominator listed multiple examples of her amazing work in helping her fellow citizens. The first described how Betty helped them clean the clutter out of their townhouse. Not only did Betty do an amazing job, but she helped create an environment where they can properly walk around their living room without the risk of falling, an issue that they had previously dealt with. Betty’s nominator cited how she even assisted one of their friends. When they fell at their townhouse, Betty ran ½ mile to get to them to find that they had broken bones and are now in rehab for their injuries. Finally, they described how Betty came into her nominator’s house, only to find them unresponsive on their bed. After attempting to rouse them, Betty called 911. Within the hour, Betty’s nominator was rushed into surgery. They’re doing well now, and Betty has continued helping them clean their house and stay on the road to recovery. “I don’t know what I would have done without her. She’s a God send.”
When they were having issues with their tablet, Braden’s nominator tried everything they could to get it fixed up with no success. Their next plan of action was to see if anyone at Best Buy could be of assistance where Braden was on the case! “Braden was diligent in correcting the problems. He found an obscure route that corrected it within minutes without needing to wipe anything,” and ultimately was the example of “what one thinks of when the words ‘customer service’ are spoken.”
When they were having issues with their tablet, Jacob’s nominator tried everything they could to get it fixed up with no success. Their next plan of action was to see if anyone at Best Buy could be of assistance, where Jacob listened as they explained the problem. After the tablet was fixed, Jacob again was happy to help with the closure of the service, “exemplifying what one thinks of when the words ‘customer service’ are spoken.”
Tanisha’s nominator raved about her connection to the community as she exemplifies a great leader, serving her church and as head of a new nonprofit ministry called Courageous Hearts, all while her husband is an active duty airman. She consistently helps in ways like supporting people in need of bill payments, standing beside the sick, and assisting families in need of food, and is always there for anybody who needs it. Through Courageous Hearts she “shares the love of God wherever she goes,” while leading backpack drives, clothing drives, and rising to the challenge to help her fellow humans any way that she can.
"My 10-year-old son fell off his scooter and hit his mouth, face, and teeth really badly. His front teeth were pushed all the way back. Shockingly they hadn’t fallen out.” Knowing that they needed help - and fast - Dr. Jensen’s nominator sent her photos of the accident. Despite it being 10PM, Dr. Jensen had them meet her at her office where she numbed his gums and tried to adjust his teeth to the best of her abilities, while taking care not to cause any additional pain. Not only that, she added a wire to stabilize his teeth and took x-rays, “all with a calm soothing voice and steady hand.” Dr. Jensen continued to send messages to check on him in the coming days, and was able to sneak them into the office between appointments to remove the wire so that an orthodontist could give him braces. “She is the best dentist we have ever had. We will continue to tell everyone who listens that she is the person they need to see for all their dental needs.”
Throughout the years of seeing her, Dr. Burckhard’s nominator has noted how she’s consistently offered amazing service and goes above and beyond for her patients. They especially appreciated her positive attitude, and how she’s “considerate, consistent, a wellspring of inspiration, hope, and healing” while also being incredibly encouraging and offering “sheer joy” to everyone she sees.
When they’ve had home maintenance issues, Rob has been his nominator’s go-to person for a long time due to his overall service and company’s integrity. Not only does he consistently provide great service and solve each problem that’s thrown his way, but he responds quickly to the call and even works after hours to make sure they’re taken care of each time. “We appreciate him and the team.”
“It’s hard to single out just one instance where Ethan has gone out of his way to help me, but the first thing that comes to mind is when I first started attending CrossFit. Ethan recognized one of my biggest weaknesses (shoulder mobility) and offered to work with me before classes to improve it. He gave me some constructive feedback and ideas to try at home as well. It seemed innocuous at the time, but it greatly enhanced my ability to perform at a higher level and achieve better results. There are quite a few other examples I could list as well but the one thing I appreciate more than anything is Ethan’s consistency and contagious positivity. He’s always so optimistic. It makes coming to classes fun and enjoyable. I’ve been attending classes at Souris Valley CrossFit for 1 year. In that time I’ve lost 35 lbs of fat and gained 8.5 lbs of muscle – results I never thought would be possible at 44 years old. Ethan’s influence on my progress has been instrumental. I’m just one of many people in our community that have been positively influenced by Ethan’s dedication and consistent hard work. I can’t say enough great things about him.”
When they were about to check out after a grocery trip for their grandmother, Julien’s nominator ran into trouble when they realized that the gift card their grandmother intended for them to use as payment was missing, likely dropped somewhere in the store while shopping. Julien was quick to help, going above and beyond to locate the card that had been turned into customer service, and took the time to verify the information- as the card was prepaid, Julien helped verify the numbers with a call from his nominator’s grandmother (who knew the numbers on the card). After everything was verified, he returned the card to his nominator who was grateful for his overall customer service, but especially his professionalism, pride in work, and accountability.
CedRiece’s nominator raved about her talent, knowledge of hair color and extensions, and overall amazing personality as the “absolute best!” They continued, “every time I leave her studio, I feel stunning. She is also an amazing human! I am going through a tough time financially, and she always lets me make payment arrangements with her. I do not take this for granted. CedRiece is about beautiful, inside and out.”
"Alicia has been my son’s boss for 9 months. He is intellectually disabled and autistic. He has not been able to keep a job for years. Alicia has led my son to be an upstanding citizen and coworker. She holds him accountable and allows him to grow in his job. He is now one of the most reliable workers and loves his job. She guides him through personal issues, which helps him be a better employee and citizen. She goes above and beyond to be the best leader and coworker. She deserves to know what an asset she is to the community and to my son with his newfound adulthood professionalism.”
The Emergency Room is never the place anyone wants to find themselves in, but Dr. Vendsel’s nominator was thankful to have him there to make the situation a little less stressful. Before their daughter was admitted to the hospital for a known disease she suffers from, Dr. Vendsel took the time to listen carefully to his patients and followed his nominator’s instructions on how to comfort their child. Awesome job caring for your patients, Dr. Vendsel!
"On a particularly hot day last summer when the crew was busy, Justin stopped traffic so a young man could safely retrieve his basketball that had rolled into the street. He didn’t hesitate – he just paused his work, stood in the middle of the street, made sure the boy was able to get his ball back safely, and then went right back to what he was doing. It was a small act, but it spoke volumes. He chose safety, kindness, and care for someone else in the middle of a long, hot, and tough day – even when he thought no one was watching.”
After a lengthy hospital stay where they had been very ill, Hailey’s nominator was able to return home, which came with Occupational Therapy appointments to build their strength back up. “Hailey was the OT that came to my house. She was very professional and knew her job very well. Hailey was so encouraging, answered all my questions, and was very thorough. She helped me get an at home program so I could gain strength faster. She always had a smile on her face and explained everything she had me do and how it helped me. Hailey went above and beyond to help me heal – I'm very grateful for that. I would highly recommend her.”
When his nominator purchased a brand new computer, Jordan was tasked with helping them get it installed at their home. Not only did he have a professional attitude and pleasant demeanor, but they were “very impressed with him,” as he transferred everything from a laptop and old desktop and took the time to make sure everything worked properly.
