President of Minot Area Chamber EDC

Position Description
Title: President of the Minot Area Chamber EDC (MACEDC)
Reports to: Board of Directors of MACEDC

Major Responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership and vision for the organization. Oversee the daily operation of the organization. Promote engagement of the Board of Directors and the membership. Act as a principal advocate and be the key spokesperson for the organization.
  • Provide information, counsel, and advice to the Board of Directors and the City of Minot regarding policy and programs. Work closely with a wide range of constituencies in both the public and private sectors.
  • Oversee the performance and professional growth of all employees.
  • Drive membership growth and non-dues revenue growth. Strengthen and effectively articulate the “value proposition” the Chamber EDC offers its members.
  • Include diversity and inclusion as part of the organization at all levels.
  • Provide leadership and work with our Congressional Delegation, Task Force 21 and others in the effort to maintain and expand the missions at the Minot Air Force Base, (MAFB). Raise public awareness of the MAFB economic impact to the region. Maintain strong relationships with the MAFB Commanders and Personnel.
  • Provide reports as needed to the City of Minot, Ward County Commission, MAFB, etc.
  • Collaborate with other organizations and groups within the community to develop relationships to further the organizations and community goals.
  • Oversee income and expenditures and create an annual operating budget. Manage employees, provide the necessary training of staff, interpret and update policies, maintain all organization assets and lead long-range strategic planning efforts.
  • Provide leadership of the economic development initiatives of the community. Lead efforts to attract new and diverse business to the Minot area and to retain existing businesses. Promote a pro-business environment in the Minot area. Work on efforts to enhance the quality of life of the region.
  • Provide the strategic leadership necessary to engage the full Board of Directors participation. Maximize and leverage strong Board relationships. Maintain regular contact and work with the Chair and other volunteer leaders responsible for committee and event activity. Motivate volunteers.
  • Work with appropriate government entities, EDC’s and chambers to build coalitions of support for the organization mission.
  • Perform other duties and activities as may be assigned from time to time by the Board of Directors.
Qualifications:
  • At least 5-10 years leadership experience. Chamber and/or Economic Development experience is highly desirable.
  • A proven track record building successful, high-performing organizations and teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) from an accredited College or University.
  • Professional development/advance training in areas of chamber, economic development, strategic planning, business administration, leading public policy and business development best practices is desired.
  • CEcD Certification and/or CCE Program Certification is desired.
Salary Range: $120K-$160K Depending on experience.
